Theoretical Framework
I use a person-centered, multi-dimensional, trauma-informed, shame-sensitive, immediacy-guided approach to offer the best care for each individual client. I always consider the “whole-ness” of each person - their backgrounds, needs, and goals in addition to their biological, psychological, emotional, relational, and spiritual development in my care for and of them.
Clinical Specialties
-
Grief
Grief is the experience of all of life’s endings and beginnings. It is the “both/and” of sadness, relief, despair, hope, anger, gratitude, pain, joy.
As universal as it is in humanity, grief is often disenfranchised, "at-least-ed", denied… But here, that is different. Your experience of grief and ALL that that means, matters.
-
Trauma
Trauma is a complex thing. Whether it is chronic or a one-time-event, or “big T” or “little t” experiences, it’s often all jumbled up in our heads, bodies, and hearts.
However you have experienced trauma and the way it colors your identity, your decisions, and your behaviors, matters here.
-
Identity
Life changes us as we live it and parts of our identities can change as we go.
The exploration of self, especially following big events, grief, loss, trauma, medical and/or mental health diagnoses, life transitions and milestones, and as time ticks on, is always an endeavor that matters.
-
Anxiety
Anxiety can feel “loud”, debilitating, even. Or maybe it’s more a low hum in the background of your life… Or both depending on the day.
Anxiety that stems from trauma and grief can be complicated just as trauma and grief can feel extra hard when there is already a struggle with anxiety. Here, all of these layers and complexities matter.
Clinical Modalities
-
Somatic/Body-Based
Our bodies have their own language. We have a “Thinker,” a “Knower,” a “Voicer.” I want to hear from ALL of them.
I believe in the power of body-based, “bottom-up,” Somatic and Polyvagal approaches to help bring fragmented or quieted parts of ourselves to conscious awareness to experience a ‘whole’ depth of healing.
-
Neuropsychology
Our brains and nervous systems are powerful entities in our bodies and stories. Their automatic “programs” keep us alive! But those same programs can make healing a challenge.
I believe in applying the science and research of our “neuro-selves” to help us in our experiences of “BEing.”
*Brainspotting available*

Grief/Trauma Theory
A grief-trained and trauma-trained mental health professional is very important. I am committed to both through continuing education and expert-led trainings and use the most current theories and models.
I believe in having both lenses applied to all process, interventions, sessions, homework. They are intertwined in my core of compassion and care.
-
Story work/Narrative
The power of story!! Your stories matter! My story matters! The real power is absolutely in the stories themselves, but also in how we tell them.
I believe in using story-work to unlock healing, transformation, and self-compassion in our “BEing.” I pull from both StoryWork and Narrative Theories and research.
